In 2005 took place the International Emergency Response Summit, organized by CHEMTREC, where more than 100 representatives from around the world to share experiences in handling hazardous materials emergencies.
Among the recommendations of the event, participants mentioned the need for information centers for Hazardous Materials Emergencies meets regularly.
CIQUIME bought this commitment, upon conclusion of the Third Latin American Conference on Chemical Accidents, organized the Second Meeting of information centers that was attended by representatives from:
CIQUIME (Argentina)
CITUC (Chile)
CISPROQUIM (Colombia)
CHEMTREC (U.S.)
The following topics were discussed:
1. Profiles of attendees centers
2. Statistics for hazmat incidents
3. Needs response services in the region
4. Possibilities of cooperation between the various centers
5. Difficulties call hazmat emergency
6. Actions which may adopt Chemical Emergency Center to enhance technical assistance
7. Impact of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals
8. Possibilities of assistance to other countries
9. Next meeting of chemical emergency centers
